Every projected image requires decisions about how light, highlights, shadow detail and color are rendered on screen. As image scale increases, those decisions become increasingly demanding. For the largest and most demanding private theaters, Seeing First led SIM2 to divide the task between two specialized imaging engines.
TWO ENGINES. ONE IMAGE.
The UltraNero 4S DUO is not simply two identical projectors working together to increase light output.
Its two laser imaging engines perform different but complementary roles. Each follows its own HDR curve, tone mapping and dedicated optical path: one tuned around the brilliance and energy of highlights, the other around depth, tonal separation and shadow detail.
The two imaging paths are mechanically aligned, electronically integrated and calibrated to behave as one projection system, producing one coherent image on screen.
By giving each engine a dedicated role, the DUO expands the available envelope of brightness, color volume and dynamic range, while giving the system more room to preserve the relationships between highlights, color and shadow detail.

UP TO 12,000 LUMEN
On the largest residential screens, light is not simply a specification. It is headroom.
Up to 12,000 lumen of combined output give the UltraNero 4S DUO the headroom required to sustain highlight energy, color volume and HDR impact as image scale increases. The system is engineered for the largest and most demanding private theaters, where screen size places exceptional demands on light, color and image rendering. The objective is not simply more light. It is more room to shape the image.
AN EXPANDED HDR ENVELOPE
HDR places simultaneous demands on brightness, highlights, shadow detail, contrast and color.
The DUO’s dual-engine architecture creates a wider operating envelope in which these elements can be managed together. Its expanded color volume helps preserve the character of color as luminance rises, while dedicated HDR processing allows each engine to contribute differently to the final image.
Well-managed light does not only make an image brighter. It can increase perceived contrast, colorfulness and depth because the viewer’s visual system adapts to the image it receives.
This is where UltraNero 4S DUO becomes a direct expression of Seeing First: engineering the system around what the viewer will ultimately perceive.


QUIET AND STABLE
Despite its combined output, the UltraNero 4S DUO maintains operating noise below 33 dB, allowing the system to share the cinema environment without becoming part of the experience.
The dual-stack architecture is engineered for precise mechanical alignment and long-term stability. Optical calibration, thermal management and system integration are designed to keep the two imaging paths working as one coherent projection system.
The best technology is the technology the viewer forgets is there.
SIM2 AND HDR
SIM2 has worked on HDR image rendering for more than seventeen years, beginning with flat-panel display technologies and continuing into high-end projection.
That experience informs the HDR curves and image processing developed for the UltraNero platform and, in the DUO, the way two specialized imaging engines are brought together into one coherent image.
